Philadelphia – Amber M. Racine of Raynes & Lawn was given the F. Sean Peretta Service Award by the Philadelphia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division at its year-end celebration.
The Peretta award is presented annually to an individual who has devoted substantial time to community service. Peretta was an attorney who was actively involved as a volunteer and mentor in his home neighborhood when he died suddenly at the age of 31. He was viewed as a role model for African-American youth. The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) is the section of the Philadelphia Bar Association for practitioners under the age of 37. The YLD is very active in both the law community and the City of Philadelphia, sponsoring a number of annual programs to help children, the elderly, and disadvantaged.
Racine continues to make a name for herself in the Philadelphia legal community through her work on behalf of catastrophically-injured plaintiffs and her many philanthropic and professional efforts. Earlier this year, she received the Judge Doris May Harris Image Award from the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division. She was also appointed by Governor Wolf in 2018 to serve on the Judicial Advisory Commission for the appointment of judicial offices. She is currently serving a three-year term on the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Board of Governors, for which she is vice chair; she is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s House of Delegates and she serves on the boards of both Community Legal Services and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. She previously co-chaired the bar association’s Women in the Profession committee and is a past president of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia.
She has been named to the list of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers annually since 2012, she was recognized in 2016 as the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia “Outstanding Young Lawyer,” and in 2017 received the inaugural Joanne A. Epps Award from the Temple University Beasley School of Law Black Law Student Association.
